CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Fighting Illini freshman Adrien Dumont de Chassart earned the first individual tournament title of his career on Sunday, as he cruised to a  six-shot victory at the Tar Heel Invitational. Dumont de Chassart closed play at 9-under par through three-rounds, using a 2-under par final-round tally to secure his medalist honors. As a team, the Orange and Blue took second overall, finishing 5-over par for the tournament. Four Illini placed among the top 15 individuals, including juniors Giovanni Tadiotto and Michael Feagles who tied for sixth overall.

Host team, North Carolina, earned the tournament title on their home course, finishing 1-under par, while Kansas State (+12) took third in the field.

"As a team, our play today was not representative of our program and where we want to be at year's end," head coach Mike Small said. "Even though we finished in second, we only beat three teams during the final round; and that is unacceptable for Illinois golf. We believe that the last round of every tournament is the most fun and rewarding round where positive momentum is built through the end of the tournament. We need to finish off events with that mindset. I'm proud of Adrien, earning an individual win today. He has made great progress this week during spring break, and he really finished off the week with a lot of presence and confidence. He dominated this field and he deserved to win."

Dumont de Chassart entered the final round of play with a three-stroke lead over the individual field. He continued to maintain his advantage throughout the final round, posting five birdies on his front nine. He made the turn at 4-under par, negating an early bogey on the day. He added another birdie to his tally on the back nine, helping to negate bogeys after the turn. The top finish marks the third top-10 individual finish for the freshman this season, and his second among the top three.

Junior Michael Feagles earned his fifth top-10 finish of the season on Sunday, as he shot 2-over par through the final round. He posted two birdies in the final round of play, and shot 1-under par for the tournament.

Junior Bryan Baumgarten shot 4-over par on Sunday afternoon to close play at 8-over par through three rounds. He added four birdies to Illinois' total on Sunday afternoon. The Orange and Blue led the tournament field with 48 total birdies on the weekend.

Freshman Tommy Kuhl closed the tournament with a total score 11-over par. He shot 3-over par on Sunday and tied for 50th individually. Freshman Noah Gillard shot 9-over par on Sunday to finish 18-over for the tournament and tie for 75th individually.

Representing Illinois as an individual, Tadiotto also tied for sixth individually with a total score 1-under par. The finish marks his third among the top 10 this season. Tadiotto shot 1-over par on Sunday, carding five birdies and an eagle on the day. He recorded two eagles throughout the tournament, the most for an individual in the field.

Junior Varun Chopra joined Dumont de Chassart and Tadiotto among the top 15 individuals, finishing in a tie for 11th overall. Chopra shot even par through the tournament, with a final-round score 1-over par. He used three birdies in his round to help negate bogeys on the day. The tournament finish marks Chopra's highest individual finish of the season.

Also playing as an individual, sophomore Brendan O'Reilly tied for 23rd individually on Sunday, posting a three-round tally of 4-over par. O'Reilly closed the tournament with a final round tally of 7-over par. Freshman Luke Armbrust tied for 75th overall, closing play at 18-over par in total.
