GRENOBLE, France - Illini senior Aleks Kovacevic and Team USA are through to the final round of the Master'U BNP Paribas Collegiate Tournament after defeating Ireland 6-1 on Saturday in the semifinal round. Kovacevic defeated Ireland's Simon Carr 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 to help the Americans advance.
"It's amazing. I haven't played in an environment like this in a while," Kovacevic said. "The matches mean a lot more and things are just a little more tense than when you just play for yourself. Being abroad for the first time in a while makes it feel like we are an away team with something to prove, and it makes representing USA even more special."
Team USA will face Great Britain on Sunday with the tournament title on the line. The Brits knocked off Belgium 4-1 in the second round Saturday.
The Americans defeated France 4-2 Friday to begin the tournament.
