Illinois Places 22nd At NCAA Cross Country Championships

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Fighting Illini women's cross country concluded their season on Saturday with a 22nd-place finish at NCAA Championships, hosted by Indiana State. The Illini finished with a team score of 549.
"What a season!" said Illinois cross country head coach Sarah Haveman. "The women should be so proud of how they established themselves and represented each other and the University of Illinois. Two years ago at this time we were 24th in our region and today we were 22nd at the NCAA Championships. In another year's time we will be stronger, more mature and even better prepared for another great season."
The Midwest Regional Champion Illini had the best finish at the national meet of the three qualifying teams representing the Midwest Region, beating out Tulsa, who placed 25th, and Minnesota, who finished 28th.
The Illini were led on Saturday by junior Allison McGrath, who crossed the finish line 65th overall. The Wheaton, Ill. native timed 21:02.3 in the 6K NCAA Final.
Second to finish for the Orange and Blue was sophomore Madison Marasco. Marasco placed 130th overall with a finish time of 21:27.9.
Coming in next for the Illini was junior Rebecca Craddock, who finished the 6K race with a time of 21:43.1 to finish 159th overall. Not far behind was sophomore Emma Milburn, finishing 166th overall recording a time of 21:45.2. The final Illini to score was freshman Emma Wilson, who finished 186th overall timing 21:55.2.
Illinois is set to return all of its student-athletes who competed at NCAA Championships for the 2020 campaign, and 21 of the 23 student-athletes from the 2019 roster in total.
