Final Results
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Despite winning six swimming events, as well as 1-meter diving, the Fighting Illini swimming and diving team couldn't keep up with the Cornhuskers on Saturday, falling 174-126. The meet marked Senior Day, as Illini veterans Ling Kuhn, Gabriele Serniute and Megan Vuong were honored following competition.Â
The Orange and Blue got off to a strong start, as the relay team of Aby Olson, Gabriele Serniute, Megan Vuong and Kristin Anderson clocked the fastest time in the 200 medley relay (1:44.26). Anderson claimed two more event wins on the day, touching the wall first in the 50 freestyle (:23.82) and 100 freestyle (:51.54).Â
It was only fitting that senior Megan Vuong would come up with a race win on Saturday. The Mississauga, Canada, native posted a :55.55 in the 100 butterfly to pace the field. Sophomore Jimena Martinez also earned a top time for the Illini, placing first in the 400 individual medley in a time of 4:29.24.Â
Illinois capped off the meet just as they started it, winning a relay event. The quartet of Cabush, Vuong, Curtis and Anderson swam a 2:28.08 to win the 400 freestyle relay.Â
On the Boards
In her final home meet of her Illini career, senior Ling Kuhn came up with the top 1-meter total of 290.62, marking a new season best. Freshman Taylor Shegos placed second on the event, finishing with a score of 281.55.Â
Scoring a 285.52, Shegos also placed third on 3-meter, while Kuhn finished in fifth with a 262.35.

Saturday's meet marked the end of the regular season for the Illini swimmers, as just the divers will head to the UIC Diving Invitational, set for Feb. 2.
