June 7, 2017 | General, Hometown Heroes, Academic Services
URBANA, Ill. – In what has become an annual event, Illinois Director of Athletics Josh Whitman, several DIA administrators, coaches – including Lovie Smith and Brad Underwood – and students-athletes took part in Illini Night at the Kiwanis Tom Jones Challenger League at AMBUCS Park in Urbana Tuesday night.
The Tom Jones Challenge League focuses on children, ages 6-21, with varying degrees of physical or mental challenges and works to provide a safe environment for kids to enjoy themselves. One of the oldest Challenger Leagues in the country and now in its 20th year, the Tom Jones Challenger League has grown from 2 teams and 13 players to the present ten teams and upwards of 100 participants.
