Guignon Named Volunteer Assistant Coach

Former Illini All-American, Ross Guignon, was named the Volunteer Assistant Coach for the upcoming season.
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Fighting Illini men's tennis program announced the addition of former Illini All-American, Ross Guignon, to the Illinois coaching staff. Guignon will serve as the volunteer assistant coach for the 2016-17 season.
"We are incredibly excited to have Ross working with the squad," said head coach Brad Dancer. "He epitomizes the competitive, hungry spirit we want in our student-athletes. He is a great shaper of our team's culture and will be a tremendous resource for our guys."
The Prairie Village, Kansas native was a four-year letterwinner for the Orange and Blue from 2012-2015 and a member of two Big Ten Championship teams in 2012 and 2015. Guignon garnered All-America honors in doubles in 2014 with Tim Kopinski after finishing the season with a record of 27-12. Guignon and Kopinski also captured the 2015 JSM Challenger doubles title at the Atkins Tennis Center, marking Guignon's first professional title.
"I am incredibly excited to step in as the volunteer assistant coach for the upcoming season," said Guignon. "I have an incredibly strong passion for Illinois Tennis, and filling this role gives me a new opportunity to positively impact the future of Illinois Tennis in a coaching position."
Over the past year and a half, Guignon has stayed close to the Illinois Tennis program by working as a graduate assistant at the Atkins Tennis Center. Guignon received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management in May of 2015 and completed a Master's Degree in Sports Management in December of 2016.
