
LeDuc Named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week

After earning four event titles on Saturday, sophomore Lizzy LeDuc was named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week
ROSEMONT, Ill. – Fighting Illini sophomore Lizzy LeDuc was named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week, the league office announced on Monday morning. LeDuc earned four individual event titles on Saturday as Illinois recorded a season-high 195.900 in a quad meet victory over Rutgers, Eastern Michigan and UIC. The weekly honor is the second of LeDuc's career and first for the Illini this season.
LeDuc garnered event titles on vault, beam, floor and in the all-around competition on Saturday afternoon. A mark of 39.425 in the all-around, bested the Dallas, Texas native's previous career-best score of 39.300. The Illini sophomore also posted a career-high 9.850 on vault and tied her career-best score on the balance beam with a 9.925. LeDuc's 9.925 on beam is tied for the fifth-best score in program history.
LeDuc is the first Illini to garner the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week award since Giana O'Connor on Feb. 29, 2016. Illinois will go on the road to Ann Arbor, Mich. this weekend. The Orange and Blue are set to take on the Michigan Wolverines on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
