Illini return to Camp Granada
August 24, 2016 | Football, General, Hometown Heroes
More than 50 #Illini student-athletes recently visited Camp Granada, a residential summer camp for children with diabetes. Fighting Illini student-athletes visit the camp in Monticello annually as part of the athletic department's Hometown Heroes community service program.
This year, the Illini spoke with the campers and joined them in playing games including basketball, dodgeball, volleyball, hockey, kickball and "gaga" ball. At the end of the visit, Mike Thorne, Jr., of Fighting Illini Basketball shared his perspective on managing diabetes.
