Champaign, Ill. - Fighting Illini junior Thomas Detry is set to compete in his second consecutive Palmer Cup this weekend. The Brussels, Belgium, native, was selected to play for Team Europe earlier this spring.

The 2015 Palmer Cup will be played on the 7,715-yard, Par 72 course at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill. The course has been home to many amateur, collegiate and professional tournaments including the Solheim Cup (2009), the Ryder Cup Captain's Challenge (2012),numerous USGA Qualifiers, the Western Amateur (2015), Centennial Western Junior (2017) and Western Junior (2003), among others. Detry is the third Illini to participate in the Palmer Cup as he joins Thomas Pieters and Scott Langley on the prestigious list of participants.

Detry finished the 2014-15 season with a team-leading 70.76 stroke average. That number also sits atop the program's single season stroke average list. The junior tallied three top finishes on the season and earned a tie for third at the 2015 NCAA Men's Golf Championship.
