Fighting Illini senior Charlie Danielson
Three-time All-American Charlie Danielson has started the 2015-16 season on a high note, returning from injury to place among the top-10 in all three of the tournament he competed in this fall. Danielson has made three NCAA Championship appearances in his career, and placed among the top-15 in all three of his NCAA Regional appearances as well.

What are you studying and why did you choose that major?
"Business Management-Entrepreneurship. I chose this major because I wanted to have a good background on how businesses work in case golf doesn't pan out."
Besides golf and studying, what is your favorite thing to do in Champaign?
"Well, those two take up most of my time, but watching or attending Illini sporting events is always a nice getaway and it's fun to cheer on your classmates."
How did you learn to play golf?
"My dad was always pushing me and my sisters, taking us out on the course every day and teaching us everything he knew."
What is your favorite thing about the sport?
"The competition, especially in college golf, there is nothing better than going out and playing for each and every teammate."
What is your favorite course to play?
"I have played so many great courses in my life, but I would have to say Carnoustie because of the tradition. It is a different style of golf and it grew on me. The course is a great test and requires patience and imagination."
Who is your favorite professional golfer and why?
"Tiger Woods. I say that because he will go down as one of the best ever. He had a 'clutch' about him and dominated the golf world for over a decade. His focus and desire to win were unmatched and it was obvious, something every golfer can learn from."
What does the Illinois Golf Tradition mean to you?
"It means everything. I have been extremely fortunate to be a part of it and do my best to continue it. Illini golf has been a special program since Coach Small joined and he continues to bring in the right players that represent the University of Illinois in a great way, on and off the course."
