Hello Illini Nation!

We have just completed our first event of the season at the Colonel Wollenberg Ram Classic in Fort Collins, Colorado! It was a great way to kick off this 2014 season. This is one of our favorite tournaments because it is in a beautiful place, and we get to stay with some incredible host families. They are the greatest chefs! The food they make for us is always something we look forward to every year! We can’t say thank you enough for everything they do for us during this tournament. We can all say it feels like home when we are with them.

The tournament itself was eventful and fun. It’s always so nice to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones during the two days. Having three of our freshman travel with us was new and exciting for everyone! Being one of the youngest teams out there, we put on a very good showing for our first event.

The weather conditions were a little up and down, but that didn’t stop us from playing well. We ended up finishing T-3rd out of the 17 teams in the tournament. We also had another highlight which was our freshman, Dana’s, first ever hole in one!

This was just the beginning to a great season and we are looking forward to our next event. We head to Minneapolis, Minnesota this weekend to play in the Minnesota Invitational at The Minikahda Club.
