Hello Illini fans!

We have won our second tournament of the season! This past weekend, the team played in the Hoosier Fall Invitational hosted by Indiana University at Purgatory Golf Club. The course was in great shape and we all had a great time playing. The team was well prepared for this tournament because we practiced a lot of bunker shots and tight lies in preparation for the tournament. It was very beneficial to us because this golf course has over 300 bunkers!

We were all very excited for this tournament because we played a match play format for the second portion of the tournament. Although the weather conditions were tough with the wind blowing pretty hard on the first day of the tournament, we were still able to put ourselves into a good position heading into match play. During our first match, the weather conditions were pretty similar to the first day of the tournament where the wind was blowing hard, but we all fought through and three out of five of us were able to win our matches.

During my first match play I got to have a teammate, Pimploy, as my scorekeeper and it was great support to have her watch me play! During the second round of matches, rain was added to our weather elements, but that did not stop us from winning our matches! The second round of match play was even more exciting because some of us even made very clutch putts to keep the match going and we put ourselves in contention to win!

As a team we were all very supportive and encouraging to one another throughout our matches. Unlike other tournaments, the atmosphere of this weekend was different. Because it was match play, for every shot and putt we were watching each other play it was as if it was our own. Especially when we all watched a teammate make her putt to extend or win her match, I personally felt Goosebumps because I was so excited!

Indiana University did a wonderful job hosting the tournament and was very welcoming to all the teams. We all enjoyed the meals that were provided, especially the mini muffins for breakfast! Overall, we all had a great time and we can't wait for our next tournament which will be in Texas for the Jim West Challenge in November 2-4! Until next time Illini fans!
