The Fighting Illini swimming and diving team closed out competition at the Big Ten Quad Duals Saturday afternoon, falling to No. 10 Minnesota, 235-95, No. 22 Purdue, 198-122 and host No. 17 Wisconsin, 228-102. The Illini are now 7-6 on the year in dual-meet action.
Freshman Erin Rodriguez was again a top finisher for the Illini, setting a new season-best time of 4:27.31 in the 400 IM, while the 400 free relay team consisting of Kristen Manias, Meghan Mason, Erin Lamb and Brittany McGowan posted a season-best time of 3:29.36 in the event.
"We were a little sluggish today," head coach Sue Novitsky said. "After the accumulation of four weeks of racing, we're ready to rest and get more life back into our legs so we can be ready to swim fast and compete well in a couple of weeks."
The Illini return to action next Friday, Feb. 5 to compete at the two-day Minnesota Challenge in Minneapolis, Minn., which is their final meet before the Big Ten Championships.
