
Davis Named Second-Team All-Big Ten By Coaches

Big Ten postseason awards were announced this evening and league runner-up Illinois had four players recognized. Sophomore Mike Davis earned second-team All-Big Ten honors by the coaches and third-team all-conference accolades by the media. Fellow sophomore Demetri McCamey, meanwhile, was a third-team All-Big Ten selection by both the coaches and media. Sophomore Mike Tisdale received honorable mention All-Big Ten accolades by the coaches and media, while senior Chester Frazier was an honorable mention All-Big Ten pick by the media. Frazier also was named to the Big Ten All-Defensive Team.
Davis is second on the Illini in scoring (11.1 ppg), leads the Big Ten in rebounding (7.9 rpg) and ranks fifth in the conference in field goal percentage (53.3 percent). He also leads the conference with eight double-doubles on the season. Davis has scored in double figures 21 times and has been the UI's leading scorer in eight games. He leads the Big Ten with nine double-digit rebounding performances and has been the Illini's top rebounder 21 times this year.
McCamey is Illinois' leading scorer, averaging 11.9 points, and is second on the squad with an average of 4.8 assists. He led the Big Ten in assists in conference play (4.9 apg) while ranking second in the league in assist/turnover ratio (2.3). McCamey has scored in double figures 20 times this season, with a team-high five 20+ point games.
Tisdale is the Illini's third-leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 10.8 points and 4.0 rebounds. He is fourth in the league in field goal percentage at 54 percent and also ranks fourth in the league with 43 blocked shots. Tisdale has scored in double figures 16 times and has been the UI's top scorer in a team-leading 11 games.
Frazier receives Big Ten All-Defensive Team accolades for the second time in his career, after first being selected during his sophomore campaign. He receives All-Big Ten recognition for his all-around game, averaging 5.7 points, ranking second on the Illini with an average of 4.8 rebounds, and leading the Big Ten in assists at 5.3 apg. He ranks second in the conference in assist/turnover ratio (2.4) and leads the Illini with 43 steals (seventh in Big Ten) and in minutes played at 33.2 mpg (ninth in Big Ten).
Illinois is 23-8 overall and finished second in the Big Ten with an 11-7 record. The Illini won 10 more games this season compared to last year's regular season total, ranking as the third-best turnaround nationally. Illinois returns to action on Friday in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal, taking on the winner of Michigan vs. Iowa at 5:30 p.m. CT.
