Go behind the scenes of Illinois women's golf with "Chip Shots", the online golf journal. In the eighth edition of the season, freshman Abby Cotter covers the team's trip to Texas and time spent apart from the golf course.
Last week we headed to Corpus Christi, Texas! The weather was perfect, the course was great, and the competition was strong. After our first day, which we played 36 holes, we were 3rd, but we fell back our last day and finished 6th. A few players on the team battled the flu Monday night, but they were still able to pull through with strong scores considering the night's events! Props to Sammi for a top-10 finish individually! She was named Big Ten Golfer of the Week!!! GO SAMMI!
Aside from golf, the trip was a great experience! The hotel we stayed at was on the water and had great views! The breakfast every morning was a plus! They had waffles in the shape of Texas! So cute! Overall, we had a positive experience and we can certainly grow from it. We are looking forward to improving upon this tournament as we head to Florida!
We are continuing to work hard in the weight room, on our physical games, and mental games, and I am confident that our hard work will show at the Eagle Landing Invitational!
Thanks for following us and be sure to keep checking in on our scores!
GO Illini!
