Go behind the scenes of Illinois women's golf with "Chip Shots", the online golf journal. In the third edition of the new season, sophomore Hailey Koschmann discusses the Windy City Classic, shopping, and some good food.
This weekend was pretty busy for us. On Saturday, we went up to Glenview,
Illinois to play Lake Shore Country Club, which happens to be my home
course. It was great to have my team out there and to have them be able to play the
course that I have played and practiced on ever since I started playing
golf. Luckily, the rain held off until the evening so we were able to get all 18
holes
in.
The Windy City Invite is one of our favorite tournaments to travel to. It is
definitely among the nicer tournaments that we play in. This year we each
got to go shopping at the Polo Rugby store, which was extremely nice of
Northwestern and all of their tournament sponsors to allow us to do. My
favorite thing about the tournament was the food though. We were provided
with really nice dinners and lunches every single day of the tournament,
which is not very common.
As a team we had a strong first round at the Glen Club. We broke 300 which
was one of our goals. Raquel Hopton shot our first individual under par round
round of the season, 71. The Glen Club was a very nice course and all of us
enjoyed the opportunity we were given to play there this past weekend.
Go Illini!
