Big Ten Championship Leaderboard Through 36 Holes
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Illinois (629) sits in last place through 36 holes of the Big Ten Championship. The Illini carded rounds of 314 and 315, respectively, at the par-72 7,228-yard Penn State Blue Course. No. 6 Purdue (586) leads second-place No. 21 Michigan State (595) by nine strokes.
"It was very disappointing to have a poor first day after working hard all season," head coach Renee Slone said. "We have two more rounds to go, and we'll make the most of those two days. Hopefully, we will be able to climb up a little bit."
Freshman Raquel Hopton (155) sits tied for 31st and led the Illini on day one, carding rounds of 76 and 79, respectively. Senior Seul Ki Park (156) opened the day with a round of 79 followed by a second round 77, tying her for 34th. Senior Stephanie Mory (161) tallied rounds of 82 and 79, placing her in 51st place. Senior Kristine Cook (162) turned in rounds of 79 and 83 and is tied for 52nd. Senior Kristin Kallergis (165) improved her opening round 85 by five strokes with a second round 80 and is in 63rd place. Junior Nancy Featherstone (166) rounded out the scoring for the Illini and is in 64th place after rounds of 80 and 86, respectively.
Ohio State (600), Wisconsin (606) and Indiana (608) round out the top five of the 11-team field. No. 16 Christel Boeljon of Purdue leads all individuals by three strokes after firing a 1-under 143.
The Big Ten Championship continues with round three on Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. and concludes with a final round on Sunday.
