The Illinois Fighting Illini Women's Diving team took to the waters this weekend at the Indiana Invitational. While the swimming team had the week off, the divers competed in a tough two-day 39 competitor field.
Freshman Marina Mendoza capitalized on the weekend, diving a career best in the 1-meter. Despite her personal best, Mendoza was two spots shy of making semi-finals.
On the 3-meter, Jackie Bain took 22nd with a score of 193.63 while Mendoza finished 27th. Bain was four spots from making semi-finals.
Coach McGowan was very pleased with the team's performance.
"The girls had an awesome meet. We finished an important part of the season going into Thanksgiving break. When we get back we will be well rested and start building on what we have been working on. This meet was a critical part of the season and I'm glad the girls responded well."
The Illini return to action December 2nd in Columbus, Ohio for the Ohio State Invitational.
