Host Indiana leads the Invitational with 592 points, Michigan is in second place with 558, followed by Kentucky with 432 points, Utah with 423.50 and the Illini with 311.
"Today we came back pretty well from the first day, which was one of our goals," head coach Sue Novitsky said. "We had a good, solid morning and came back tonight and raced really well. A number of people swam faster in the finals than the prelims, which is good."
On Saturday, the relay teams came up big as they finished the 200 medley and 800 free in fifth. The 200 medly relay squad featured Christina Brunka, Kirsten Koepcke, Kathryn Easey, and Barbie Viney swimming in a time of 1:47.52. The 800 free team consisted of Kellie Stevens, Britta Jansson, Koepcke, and Viney finishing with a time of 7:38.65.
Novitsky continued, "Tomorrow, we need to keep our focus in the prelims and stay the course and continue to improve as we go along. We're swimming well, times are coming down, training progressions are working well and people are swimming with more speed. We're looking to improve our race strategies and execution and go out tomorrow and have some smart swims."
Other good swims that took place on Saturday were Viney in the 100 free finishing sixth with a time of 1:51.23. Trisha Lakatos placed third in the 100 breast with a time of 1:04.94, while Brunka placed 11th in the 100 fly in 57.79 and swam 59.73 in the 100 back.
