Divers Compete at UIC Diving Invitational

Chicago, Ill. - The Fighting Illini divers participated in the UIC Diving Invitational in Chicago, Ill. today. Sophomore Jackie Bain and freshman Abbey Bernado were the only two representing the Illini on the day. The Illini finished the invitational in 5th place in the five-team field with 9 pts.
"I thought we had some strong performances today, especially Jackie's effort in the 3-meter dive," head diving coach Billy McGowan said. "It's still early in the season, but I like where we are stand at this point. They did well today and look to be well on track for where we want them to be later in the season."
Bain led the way for the two Illini divers as she earned the best finish of the day in the 3-meter with 187.30 points. The sophomore then took 15th place in the 1-meter dive scoring 175.45 points. Freshman Abbey Bernado finished 16th in the 1-meter (178.00) and 19th in the 3-meter (153.95) competition.
