- Luther Head led Illinois with 18 points, one shy of a career high, and a career-best five 3-pointers. Head's previous high was 3, last against Iowa on 1/17/04. Head's eight 3-point attempts was also a career high. With his 18 points, he becomes the seventh different Illini player to lead the team in scoring this season.
- Head's six field goals and 10 field goal attempts were season highs, as were his four steals. The four steals also tied a career high Head set against Illinois State on 12/18/01.
- Illinois' 67-52 win was the first time the Illini have won this season while scoring fewer than 70 points. The win evens Illinois' record to 1-1 when scoring 60-69 points.
- With the win, Illinois leads the all-time series 76-67, and 49-23 in Champaign. The Illini have won the last eight against Michigan, and the last eight at the Assembly Hall. Illinois has now won 11 of its last 12 games against Michigan.
- Head, Deron Williams and Dee Brown combined for 46 of Illinois' 67 points, 69 percent of the Illini's scoring. Williams' 15 accounted for his fourth game in double figures in the last five games, and he tied his season high with nine 3-point attempts.
- In addition to Head's 3-point records, Illinois set a season high for 3-pointers, making 10. The previous record was nine against Temple and Illinois State.
- The Illini forced Michigan into .167 3-point shooting, the third-worst long-distance shooting percentage by an Illinois opponent this season. Penn State's .077 mark is the lowest, with Illinois-Chicago's .143 second-worst.
- Today's attendance of 16,618 was a sellout, the fifth time the Illini have sold out the Assembly Hall this season.
