CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - Roger Powell scored 17 points and had seven rebounds Wednesday night to lead Illinois to a 96-43 rout of Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Powell, who led four Illini in double figures, had 12 points in the second half and has paced the Illini (2-0) in scoring in both of their games.
Freshmen Dee Brown added 14 points and four rebounds, James Augustine had 12 points, nine rebounds and four assists and Kyle Wilson scored 11 for Illinois.
Illinois, which led 40-19 at the half, went on 16-3 and 16-4 runs after the break, effectively running its offense and stifling any chance for the Golden Lions.
Justin Lloyd led Arkansas-Pine Bluff with 10 points and five rebounds. Michael Kendrick added nine points.
The Illini pushed a slim 10-7 lead nearly halfway through the first half to 31-13 with five minutes to go, behind two 3-pointers by Sean Harrington, who finished with nine points, and consecutive Aaron Spears layups. Spears finished with eight points.
The Illini's Brian Cook, the team's leading returning scorer and rebounder, and Jerrance Howard sat out the final game of a two-game suspensions for playing in a non-sanctioned summer tournament.
The Illini were also without sophomore Luther Head, who has not played this season because of a groin injury.
