CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The 2007 Fighting Illini football team celebrated the 10-year anniversary of their Rose Bowl season over the weekend, July 20-21, in Champaign-Urbana. Over 60 players and staff from the 2007 squad that played in the 2008 Rose Bowl got together, including head coach Ron Zook, coordinators Mike Locksley and Curt Mallory and Illini greats like Rashard Mendenhall, J Leman, Juice Williams and Martin O'Donnell, among many more.
Highlights of the 2007 Fighting Illini
• Played in 2008 Rose Bowl game
• Ranked No. 20 in final AP Poll
• 9-4 overall record, 6-2 in Big Ten
• Won 9 games after winning 8 total games over the previous 4 seasons
• Won at No. 1 Ohio State, 28-21, the programs third-ever win over an AP No. 1 team
• Three ranked wins on the season (home vs. #21 Penn State, home vs. #5 Wisconsin & at #1 Ohio State)
• 3 All-Americans – LB J Leman (1st team), Martin O'Donnell (1st team), RB Rashard Mendenhall (3rd team)
