URBANA, Ill. – Fighting Illini men's tennis head coach Brad Dancer announced on Tuesday the addition of Siphosothando Montsi for the 2018-19 campaign. Monsti signed a national letter of intent to compete for the Orange and Blue and joins Lucas Horve and Keenan Mayo in the 2018 class.

Siphosothando Monsti

5'7" | East London, South Africa | Laurel Springs

  • Highest ITF junior world ranking of No. 92
  • Three ITF juniors singles titles
  • Three ITF juniors doubles titles
  • Member of South African Davis Cup team
  • Highest ATP singles ranking of No. 1192
  • Why Monsti chose Illinois: "I chose Illinois because it's a great school with a great tennis program. The guys on the team are all cool guys that treat each other like family and take care of one another. The coaches are always very involved with the team and always looks to bring the best out of them, on and off the court as well, which is what really convinced me that this is where I would like to be."
  • Coach Brad Dancer: "We are tremendously excited to add Siphs to the team.  On his visit, he immersed himself with the guys and almost instantly we felt like he was part of our culture.  He's a terrific student and a proven winner on the court. I know I speak for the team when I say we all can't wait for him to get back here and get started on his legacy."
