Roster | USA Basketball Release
Incoming Fighting Illini guard Ayo Dosunmu has been selected as one of 32 players for the 2018 USA Basketball Men's U18 National Team training camp, which will take place May 31-June 2 at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Dosunmu, a native of Chicago, signed with Illinois in November and will suit up for the Fighting Illini in the fall. A five-star recruit by both Rivals and 247Sports, Dosunmu led Morgan Park High School to its second straight IHSA 3A State title in 2018. He earned consensus first-team All-State honors after averaging 25.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 2.7 steals as a senior, including a career-high 60 points vs. Wilson High (Washington D.C.) in Las Vegas (Dec. 22) and a 3A state title game record 28 points against Springfield Southeast (March 17). Earlier this spring he played in both the Jordan Brand Classic and Iverson Roundball Classic all-star games.
Finalists for the U.S. U18 team are expected to be announced on June 2, and the team will continue training June 3-8 in Colorado Springs until departing for the 2018 FIBA Americas U18 Championship. Athletes eligible for this team must be U.S. citizens who are 18 years old or younger (born on or after Jan. 1, 2000).
The 2018 FIBA Americas U18 Championship for Men will be held June 10-16 in St. Catharines, Canada, and the top four finishing teams will qualify for the 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup for Men.
The USA will be led by Bill Self (Kansas) with USA assistant coaches Anthony Grant (Dayton) and Danny Manning (Wake Forest).
