Chip Shots: Nowlin Details Start of Spring Break Trip

Hey Illini Fans!

We just got back from our spring break trip, where we headed out to Johns Island and Tucson! I'll be giving a rundown of our trip to Johns Island, so be on the lookout for another update regarding Tucson!

We were all very excited for our spring break this year, and we were headed back to a tournament that we really enjoy. The Briar's Creek Invitational is one that offers us many opportunities and challenges, and it's a great preparation for our post-season!

We started our first night out with a delicious dinner at Bonefish Grill and then settled in for a good night's rest before our practice round. The practice round was productive as we gathered a lot of useful information. The forecast didn't look the best for the next couple of days, so we were mentally preparing ourselves in advance.

After a long night of storms, we were up bright and early for the first day of play. There was a brief morning shower and then completely clear skies for the rest of the day! We finished the day in a tie for third place, and hungry to move up the leaderboard the final day.

After a significant rain delay the next morning, we were just finishing up our rounds as yet another storm began to roll in. We ended up finishing our rounds just in time! We brought an even par round into the clubhouse for the day, which was good enough to earn third place! While we feel that there were more opportunities to score better, we are also proud of our perseverance and performance with the unpredictable conditions over the two days we played. Jan, Grace, and I came away with top-ten finishes, with Jan finishing at 2-under par, and Grace and I at 1-under par.

That night, we were off to Arizona for the second leg of our spring break trip! Keep an eye out for Ali's blog coming soon!

I-L-L!
