Hello Illini Nation!
We just got back on campus from the Ohio State Lady Buckeye Invitational, our last tournament of the regular season! We finished the spring season strong with back-to-back victories, and have positive thoughts and good energy going into conference and post season!
This tournament came after a two week break from competition following our spring break. We used both weeks to fully prepare for our last tournament of the season and post season. We traveled down to Memphis, Tennessee, to train at TPC Southwind, and we learned more about our games and the key aspects we needed to focus on. The trip paid off well for the Lady Buckeye, as we felt prepared and confident in our games.
We started off the tournament really well, shooting one under in the first round and in changing conditions, four over in the second round. With our total of +3, we led by six heading into the final round. The day started with a one-hour rain delay, and ultimately the round was cancelled due to course conditions and predicted weather. We earned a team victory and had great success individually too. We had three top 10 finishes; Grace Park finished tied for first (her first collegiate win!), followed by Tristyn Nowlin and Dana Gattone finishing fourth and tenth, respectively.
We are back on campus for two days before heading to the Big Ten Championships at TPC River's Bend and are excited about the potential of our team. Although it is a quick turn around, we are extremely excited to play again and to show exactly what we are capable of! We hope to see lots of Orange and Blue out on the course this weekend!
Go Illini!
