EAST LANSING, Mich. –  The University of Illinois women's gymnastics team hit a season-high 196.850 team score on Saturday afternoon to win the B1G Five Meet at the Jenison Field House. UI finished ahead of Maryland (195.700), Ohio State (195.150), Nebraska (194.900) and Michigan State (192.825). The win marks the third-straight Illini victory.
Illinois posted season-best team scores on bars (49.275) and floor (49.400) to propel Illinois to the program's seventh-highest team score in the Illinois record books. Sophomore Rae Balthazor won the all-around competition with a career-high 39.525 score. The all-around title is third for the Illini sophomore this season. Balthazor also took home the bars (9.925) and beam (9.900) titles.
Up next, the Illlini will host the 2018 Big Ten Women's Gymnastics Championships next Saturday at the State Farm Center. With the first-place finish, Illinois earns a spot in the night session that begins at 7 pm.
