ROSEMONT, Ill. - Fighting Illini senior gymnast Bobby Baker has been named Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week, as announced today by the league office. The honor marks the first for the Lemont, Illinois, native, this season and the fourth of his career.Â
Baker helped lead the Illini to a 407.700-387.700 victory over Arizona State on Saturday evening at Huff Hall. The four-time NCAA All-American recorded three event titles, including floor exercise (13.700), still rings (14.450) and vault (14.900), as well as a second-place finish on high bar (14.000). The 14.900 score on vault currently stands as the nation's best. Baker is the first Illini gymnast to earn the award since Alex Diab (Jan. 30, 2017).Â
