FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. - Kevin Anderson advanced to the semi-finals of the US Open on Tuesday night with a thrilling, 7-6(5), 6-7(9), 6-3, 7-6(7) victory over the No. 17-seeded Sam Querrey from the United States. The semi-final appearance is Anderson's first in an ATP Grand Slam event.

- The match between Anderson (6'8") and Querrey (6'6") was the tallest meeting in a Grand Slam quarter-final, semi-final or final of the Open Era
- Anderson is the first South African since Wayne Ferreira at the 2003 Australian Open to advance to a Grand Slam semi-final, and the first through to a US Open semi-final since Johan Kriek in 1980
- Kevin hit 22 aces in the match against Querrey.

Anderson will now take on No. 12 seed, Pablo Carreno Busta on Friday in Flushing Meadows. The two most recently faced each other in August at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 in Canada where Anderson defeated Busta, 6-3, 7-6.
