University of Illinois students interested in joining the Fighting Illini football team should attend an informational meeting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, in the squad room, which is located on the lower level of the football complex in the northeast tower of Memorial Stadium. Members of the football staff will provide those in attendance with the materials and information they need to tryout and walk-on the Illini squad.
There are many reasons to join the team but here are some of the benefits:
» Compete at the highest level of college football
» Team will provide three meals per day
» Nike athletic gear will be provided
» The opportunity to dress for both home and away games
This is a unique opportunity to represent the Orange and Blue from the field rather than the stands. If you played football in high school, currently play flag football on campus, or believe you're an athlete just waiting for your time to shine; come tryout to be a part of the Fighting Illini football team.
To participate in the tryout, a student must be currently enrolled full-time at the University of Illinois and must show official documentation of having passed a physical, including a sickle cell test, within the last six months. If needed, students can get a physical exam, with sickle cell test, at the McKinley Health Center on campus. Students also must bring their University ID to the meeting.
Students with the proper documentation will have a tryout Tuesday, Sept. 5, provided they have completed the necessary requirements. For more information regarding the proper documentation needed for the tryout, click here: MEDICAL DOCUMENTS.
If you have any questions on the meeting or tryout, please contact Pat Embleton at 217-333-1400 or embleton@illinois.edu
