It's John Deere Classic week, an Illini fan-favorite! The PGA TOUR event is held annually in Silvis, Illinois at TPC Deere Run. Tournament play is set to begin on July 13, and will feature several current and former Illini. Rising seniors Nick Hardy and Dylan Meyer will appear in the event, as well as former Illini Brian Campbell, D.A. Points and Steve Stricker. Meyer and Campbell are set to tee off on Thursday at 8:50 a.m., Hardy will hit the course at 9 a.m., while Points (1 p.m.) and Stricker (1:10 p.m.) will tee off in the afternoon.
Points and Campbell are coming off of appearances at the Greenbrier Classic, while Meyer will make his PGA TOUR debut after playing in the Web.com Tour's Lincoln Land Charity Championship earlier this summer. Head coach Mike Small is coming off of a top 50 finish at the U.S. Senior Open in early July as well.
On the Web.com Tour, Scott Langley and Luke Guthrie will compete in the Utah Championship presented by Zions Bank this weekend after both competing in the Nashville Golf Open Benefitting the Snedeker Foundation to open the month of July. Guthrie also appeared in the LECOM Health Challenge last weekend.
On the European Tour, Thomas Detry will appear in the field at the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open, coming off of a top 50 finish at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Hosted by the Rory Foundation.
