First meeting against Demon Deacons since epic 2004 showdown

ESPN Release

Matchups for the Big Ten/ACC Challenge have been determined, with Illinois traveling to Wake Forest for the 19th annual event to be played in late November. Dates, network assignments and tip times will be announced at a later date.

This will mark the second meeting between the Fighting Illini and Demon Deacons in the B1G/ACC Challenge, and just the third meeting overall. The last time the two teams met was on Dec. 1, 2004, when the No. 3 Illini, led by Deron Williams, Dee Brown and Luther Head, took down No. 1 Wake Forest, led by Chris Paul, 91-73 in Champaign.

Illinois owns an all-time record of 8-10 in the ACC/B1G Challenge, including an 88-74 win over North Carolina State last season at State Farm Center. The ACC took home the Commissioner's Cup with nine wins in the 2016 Challenge. The Big Ten won eight of the 14 matchups in 2014 and 2015, and 2012 and 2013 were both ties. Since its inception, the ACC has won 11 Challenges, while the Big Ten has won five.

ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU will combine to televise all 14 games of the event, matching top college basketball programs playing for conference supremacy and the Commissioner's Cup. All games will also be available to stream via the ESPN app.
