Illini Set to Host Virginia Tech for B1G/ACC Challenge

Rosemont, Ill. - Fighting Illini women's basketball will host Virginia Tech in the 2017 Big Ten/ACC Women's Basketball Challenge, as announced today by the Big Ten and Atlantic Coast Conferences. The two teams will meet for the second time in program history on Thursday, November 30. The Illini are 4-6 all-time in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, most recently hosting Wake Forest during the 2016-17 season.

The Illini are 1-0 against the Hokies, last meeting in 1991 at the Coors Classic in Boulder, Colorado. Illinois earned a 68-66 victory in the contest.

Coming off of a 9-22 campaign in 2016-17, the Orange and Blue are preparing for their first season under the direction of head coach Nancy Fahey. The squad returns all five starters from last season, and will welcome four newcomers in Addaya Moore, Jnaya Walker, Lyric Robins and Nancy Panagiotopoulou.
