The Fighting Illini volleyball team wrapped up their first spring season under new head coach Chris Tamas on Saturday (April 23), with matches against Southern Illinois and DePaul in Huff Hall. The Illini took both sets that were plated against both the Salukis (25-21, 25-17) and the Blue Demons (25-20, 25-14).
The Illini finish the spring slate with a pair of wins over Southern Illinois, as well as victories over SIUE, Illinois State and DePaul.
Heading into next season under the leadership of Tamas, Illinois will look to improve on its 17-14 overall record and 10-10 mark in the Big Ten from the 2016 season and returns nine letterwinners from last season's team, including American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Honorable Mention All-America and All-Big Ten honorees Brandi Donnelly, Ali Bastianelli and Jordyn Poulter.
