West Lafayette, Ind. -Â Much like the first two days of the Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships, the Illinois swimming and diving team saw mixed results. The highlight of the day came from senior Audrey Rodawig and freshman Jamie Kolar, as each swimmer posted a time that ranks in the top-10 on the all-time fastest individuals list.Â
"We had another full day of ups and downs," said head coach Sue Novitsky. "I felt we were very flat and timid this morning. There were some openings to make finals, but we did not capitalize on those opportunities."
In the preliminary round of the 100 butterfly, Rodawig posted a time of :55.42. With the time, Rodawig moves up to sixth on the all-time fastest individuals list.
Also in the preliminary round, freshman Kolar touched the wall in a time of :55.71 in the 100 backstroke to put her at fifth on the fastest individuals list.
Junior Samantha Stratford advanced to the final round in the 400 individual medley and registered a time of 4:15.94, placing her 18th.

In three-meter diving competition, sophomore Madeline Kuhn posted a preliminary round score of 218.35. The score was good for 41st. Kuhn also scored a personal best score of 200.75, which placed her 24th in the meet. The score also moves her up to second on UI's top-10 list.
"We need to come in ready to be relentless, tough and energetic," said Novitsky. "With one more full day of events, the team needs to take a step forward and challenge themselves."
Prior to the finals, the Big Ten awarded the Sportsmanship Award to one athlete from each team based on coach nominations, with freshman Fiona McDermott receiving the award for the Illini.Â
With three days down, the Illini remain at 12th in team standings with a score of 152. The final day of competition will be tomorrow, starting at 10 a.m. CT with the preliminary rounds of the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 1650 freestyle and platform diving. The final rounds of those events, as well as the 400 freestyle relay will begin at 5:30 p.m. CT.
