WINDERMERE, Fla. – Fighting Illini senior golfer Dylan Meyer continued his strong play at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational on Monday, posting a second-round tally of 6-under par to lead Illinois and maintain his spot atop the individual leaderboard. As a team, the Orange and Blue lead the tournament field with a two-round tally 11-under par after closing the day at 2-under par. The Illini are joined among the top teams on the leaderboard by Florida (-9) and California (-2).
"It was another solid day today," head coach Mike Small said. "Although, we weren't on point as well as we were yesterday, we had a few more unforced errors. Dylan {Meyer} was a horse today, he had a solid back nine that kept us in it while we ran into a little bit of trouble. I'm really looking forward tomorrow; I'm looking for a total team effort and I'm excited for our guys to compete against all these good teams."
After firing a 5-under par opening round on Sunday, Meyer continued to lead the Orange and Blue through Monday's second round. He started the day with a bogey on his second hole, before posting three birdies on the front nine. He added four more birdies on the back nine for a 6-under par final tally. He is 11-under par through two rounds of play, and holds a six-stroke lead over the tournament field.
Sophomore Giovanni Tadiotto is also among tournament leaders as he joins Meyer among the top 10 individuals. Tadiotto was hot through the front nine, recording four consecutive birdies before the turn. He closed the date even par after four bogeys to close the round. Tadiotto is 2-under par through two rounds and tied for seventh individually.
Sophomore Michael Feagles is tied for 16th overall after finishing at even par on Monday. He carded two early birdies on the round, and used an eagle on the seventh hole to negate a bogey on the front nine. Feagles is 1-under par through two rounds.
Senior Nick Hardy and freshman Brendan O'Reilly are tied for 43rd overall and sit 4-over par through two rounds.
