CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Bren Spillane continued his dominance of the Orange and Blue World Series with two hits Friday, including a walk-off single in the seventh to beat the Blue, 3-2. Spillane hit three home runs on Monday in the Orange's 16-0 win.
Luke Shilling (5.0 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 5 SO) and Joey Gerber (2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 SO) threw for the Orange, each in their second outing of the series. The Blue was limited to two hits, while the Orange had six. Matthew James (2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R), Cole Bellair (4.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 3 SO) and Zak Devermann (1.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 K) combined to not allow an earned run for the Blue.
Spillane and Tyler Engel were the only players with two hits. Doran Turchin drove in the Orange's first two runs with a double in the fifth.
Orange clinched the series win, although the teams will meet again Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the finale.
