Illini Football Training Camp Day 4

Last practice before donning full pads on Monday

Training Camp Central

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Fighting Illini football team practiced in shells (shoulder pads) and shorts for the second straight day at Training Camp practice No. 4. The Orange and Blue were on the practice fields next to Memorial Stadium for about two hours on a beautiful afternoon and stayed to sign autographs for a good crowd of Illini faithful after practice wrapped up.

Head coach Lovie Smith was back on the sidelines after missing Saturday's practice to attend the NFL Hall of Fame induction ceremony in support of Tony Dungy and Orlando Pace,

"It was a great trip," Smith said of going to the Hall of Fame. "The game has meant so much to me, and means so much for the guys out here. To know oneone personally that played at that level, that have impacted your career, it's special."

The Fighting Illini return to the practice fields on Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m and will be in full pads for the first time this fall. All Training Camp practices are open to the public and free to attend.
