Training Camp Central
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Fighting Illini were back on the turf inside Memorial Stadium on Tuesday morning for Training Camp practice No. 11.Â
It marked the second straight day, and the second time during fall camp, that the Illini held practice on their game field. Heavy rains on Monday forced the team from the grass practice fields just east of the stadium to the Field Turf surface inside Memorial Stadium. The grass practice fields remained water logged today. Â
"Being able to get a few practices on our home turf always helps," head coach Lovie Smith said of the change in venue. "Team-wise, it (the season) is getting closer and the guys can't wait."
The Illini return to practice Wednesday from 2:30-4:30 p.m. All Training Camp practices are open to the public and free to attend from Aug. 4-20. In the case of inclement weather, fans should stay tuned to FightingIllini.com and follow @IlliniFootball on Twitter for the latest information on the status of practice.Â
