Sedlock Earns @IlliniBaseball's Third Straight B1G Honor

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Cody Sedlock was named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. Sedlock threw his first career complete game May 7 and forced Maryland's final 22 batters to go 0 for 22 in a 4-2 win for the Fighting Illini.

It is Sedlock's second Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honor in the last three weeks and Illinois' third straight award. The Illini became the first team to win three straight Pitcher of the Week honors against three Big Ten opponents since Purdue from March 26-April 9, 2012.

Sedlock shut out Ohio State over 10.2 innings, while striking out 14, to win two weeks ago and Doug Hayes threw a shutout against No. 19 Minnesota last week to claim Pitcher of the Week.

Sedlock was dominant against Maryland in a battle of Super Regional teams from a year ago. He worked seven straight 1-2-3 innings to finish the game in 103 pitches, while striking out seven and allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits. The right-hander moved within 11 strikeouts of Illinois' single-season record (108) with two weeks left in the season.
