Chip Shots: Tristyn Nowlin Returns to Furman, This Time with the Illini

Hello Illini Fans!
We have continued our strong start to the fall season by placing third at the Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, South Carolina! We played at Furman University Golf Club, which I have experience with from multiple junior tournaments. During our practice round, I made sure to give as much information as possible, due to the fact that Furman can be a little tricky in some spots. We made a game plan of playing from green to tee on a number of holes. We wanted to give ourselves the best opportunity to be aggressive and put some good numbers on the board! After a fun and information-packed practice round, we attended dinner at the golf course. The food was great, and the staff was extremely kind!
We started the tournament off strong, with a two-under par team total, which put us in fourth place and just five shots off of the lead. After our round, we had a great dinner at Smokey Dreams Barbecue and Catering, a well-known restaurant in Greenville. We came back the next day with another round of two-under par, and moved up the leader board into third place. On the final day, our play wasn't as strong, but we still finished the tournament at two-under par and in third place. Our team total tied the mark for the second-best 54-hole team score in program history! There are many more great things to come! Bing also had a great tournament, finishing third with a four-under par total. Great playing Bing!
Overall, my second college tournament as a freshman was a fantastic experience! I have learned numerous things about my game from this event that will play an important role in my future. I have made so many great memories with the team in a short time, and I can truly say we are a family. Thank you to all of our supporters and fans who encourage and cheer us on through every event. We appreciate all that you do!
