Sedlock Among Baseball America's Top 100

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois right-hander Cody Sedlock was named the No. 36 MLB Draft prospect in college baseball according to Baseball America. Sedlock is third among Big Ten players and the No. 2 rated Big Ten pitcher.

Sedlock was 4-0 with a 4.02 ERA as a sophomore last season. He helped the Illini win 50 games and the Big Ten title on the way to the program's first NCAA Regional championship. He threw 31.1 innings last season, including allowing no earned runs over 2.0 innings against Vanderbilt in the NCAA Super Regional.

The Illini plan to rely more on the hard-throwing junior in 2016, as the top end of the team's pitching staff was lost to the MLB Draft. Pitchers Tyler Jay (No. 6 overall) and Kevin Duchene (5th round) were both selected in the top five rounds and signed pro contracts following their junior seasons in Champaign.

Illinois opens its season Feb. 19 at Tulane. The home opener is March 25 against Penn State.
