Deron Williams returned to Champaign to participate in a fundraiser for the Wayne McClain Pipeline Foundation, named in memory of the longtime Fighting Illini associate head basketball coach. During his time on campus, Williams visited the Ubben Basketball Complex alongside his former teammate, Dee Brown, to take part in pick-up games with members of the current Illini squad.
