New Tailgate Options Available Inside Grange Grove

Renovated tailgate lot provides variety for Fighting Illini Football Fans

Champaign, Ill. – University of Illinois Athletics is excited about the new tailgating options that will be available for Fighting Illini Football fans inside Grange Grove. Previously Lot 36, the parking lot directly west of Memorial Stadium, Grange Grove will be the prime tailgating area on Fighting Illini Football game day.

There will be space available to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis for any Fighting Illini fan to set up their own tailgate inside Grange Grove. University of Illinois students will have the opportunity to reserve tailgate space in advance of game day and will be able to submit tailgate reservations online beginning July 20. Additionally, larger groups and organizations looking to host custom tailgate parties, including tent rentals & tickets, will be able to purchase hospitality tailgate packages. Grange Grove will be open from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. the day before a game to allow fans to reserve their space and set up any tailgate items in advance. Tailgaters will be able to pull up in the north side of the lot and drop-off their items. Vehicles will not be allowed inside Grange Grove. Fans will be instructed to set up any tailgates in designated spaces; space may be limited and is subject to availability. Updates on the amount of available public tailgate space will be posted to Fighting Illini Athletics Facebook and Twitter at 7 p.m. the day before the game. Security will monitor the area overnight; however any items set up in the lot are left at the risk of the owner.

Grange Grove will reopen to the public at 7am on game day. At this time fans may return to their tailgate space and walk-in any additional items they need, including food and beverages. Fans over the age of 21 will be able to consume alcoholic beverages in this area, similar to all tailgating lots. Grove will remain open until 10pm or one hour after the conclusion of a night game on game day.

To make tailgating even easier, Fans and students can also take advantage of Illinois' partnership with TAILGATER CONCIERGE to purchase individual tailgate packages that include tents, tables, chairs, and many other tailgate essentials. Opening Night
Fighting Illini Football fans can first experience Grange Grove and the new Fighting Illini Walk at the 2015 season opener against Kent State on Friday, September 4, with kickoff scheduled for 8 p.m. Grange Grove will open at 7 a.m., along with the rest of the lots surrounding Memorial Stadium, with scheduled activities starting at 5 p.m. and the Fighting Illini Walk at 5:30 p.m.To check the availability of first-come, first-serve tailgate space, follow Fighting Illini Athletics on Facebook and @IlliniAthletics on Twitter.
