Feb. 12, 2015

Recap |  Final Stats |  Photo Gallery

1. Illinois set the State Farm Center attendance record with a sellout crowd of 17,087 on Thursday. That total marks the 2014-15 capacity during the renovation. After this year, the new capacity will be lower and the school record won't ever be touched again. The previous top attendance mark at State Farm Center was 17,085 against Indiana on Jan. 18, 2015. Prior to this season, the record was 16,865 vs. Wisconsin on Feb. 12, 2005.

2. For the second time this season, the Illini and the Wolverines played an overtime contest. Illinois avenged its loss to Michigan in Ann Arbor on Dec. 30 (73-65). With the win, the Illini improve to 3-1 in overtime under John Groce.

3. The Orange and Blue held Michigan scoreless for the final 3:13 of the second half and the first 4:45 of overtime, a stretch spanning 7:58, outscoring the Wolverines 21-0 during that stretch. Illinois was 5-of-7 from the field in OT, while Michigan was 0-of-6.

4. Illinois held Michigan scoreless from the field in overtime. Michigan's only points of the extra session came from the free throw line with 14.3 seconds remaining.

5. Sophomore Kendrick Nunn posted a game-high 21 points, the third time this season he has eclipsed 20. He hit a three-pointer with 1:22 left to tie the game, 50-50. His free throw in the first 30 seconds of overtime gave the Illini the lead for good.

6. After scoring just two points in the first half, sophomore Malcolm Hill found his stroke after halftime, scoring nine second-half points en route to 11, his 10th consecutive game in double digits.

7. Senior Nnanna Egwu grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds, the second time this season he has had 10 or more in a game. He also had a game-high four blocks, the fifth time this season with at least that many. All six of Egwu's points came in overtime (3-3 FG).

8. Senior Ahmad Starks chipped in 12 points and game highs four steals. He also led the Illini with four assists.

9. In his first action since the game at Ohio State on Jan. 3, senior Rayvonte Rice had three steals and was tied for second on the team with five rebounds, making a number of key plays in the final minutes of the second half and in overtime.

10. Senior manager turned walk-on Ryan Schmidt saw his first action of the season.

11. To recognize the 10th anniversary of the 2004-05 Fighting Illini team that won a school-record 37 games and finished as national runner-up, bobbleheads of the starting five from that beloved squad are being given out to 1,000 fans at each Big Ten weeknight home game this season. Tonight's game featured the bobblehead of Dee Brown, who started all 39 games as a junior, earning consensus first-team All-America honors, National Player of the Year recognition by Sporting News, and sweeping Big Ten Player of the Year and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year accolades.

12. Illinois is now 4-0 in bobblehead giveaway games, getting wins on Roger Powell, Jr., bobblehead night (Maryland 1/7), James Augustine bobblehead night (Purdue 1/21), Luther Head bobblehead night (Rutgers 2/3) and Dee Brown bobblehead night (Michigan 2/12). The final bobblehead night is on March 4 vs. Nebraska, featuring Deron Williams
