SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. – After two weeks away from competition the Fighting Illini women's golf team is back in action as Illinois heads south to the Louisville-hosted Cardinal Cup. The two-day event opens on Monday, Oct. 19 and concludes the following day with 54 holes slated to be played. The tournament will be held at the University of Louisville Golf Club, a par 72, 6,132-yard venue.
Traveling for the Orange and Blue this week will be freshman Bing Singhsumalee; sophomores Grace Park, Dana Gattone, Chayanid Prapassarangkul and Pailin Ruttanasupagid, as well as junior Stephanie Miller. Ruttanasupagid will compete for the second time this season as an individual.
Other teams that will be competing at the Cardinal Cup include: Ball State, Bradley, Chattanooga, Cincinnati, Columbia, East Carolina, Florida State, Indiana, Louisville, Notre Dame, Richmond, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin. The field includes five squads found in the top 50 of the most recent Golfweek/Sagarin rankings (Louisville, 20; East Carolina, 23; Notre Dame, 32; Illinois, 42 and Florida State, 47).
Play opens on Monday, Oct. 19 with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT to commence 36-holes of play. On Tuesday, the final round begins at 8:15 a.m. CT. Live scoring is available from Golfstat.com.
