Illini Stumble Against Michigan

URBANA, Ill. - The Illini women's tennis team (8-10, 4-3 Big Ten) fell 7-0 Friday evening to defending Big Ten regular season champion Michigan, (18-3, 8-0) which is currently ranked 10th in the country and is undefeated in conference play thus far. Sophomore Rachael White nearly forced a third set at No. 2 singles, but was unable to come away with the victory.
"Michigan is a tough team," head coach Michelle Dasso said. "I was very impressed with them, but there are things we certainly have to take a look at and do a better job. In general, I was really impressed with Michigan's energy and their ability to move forward at the points and finish at the net. I think we can learn from that and hopefully implement that on Sunday."
Illinois will close out its regular season home schedule on Sunday against Michigan State at noon at Atkins Tennis Center. Seniors Leigh Finnegan and Annie McCarthy will be recognized prior to the start of the match.
