Illini Finish First Day at Cyclone Classic

Head coach Wayne Angel and the Fighting Illini men's track and field team completed day one of the two-day Cyclone Classic on Friday, held at the Lied Recreation-Athletic Facility in Ames, Iowa.

Junior Pierre Bush recorded a season best 23'01.25" in the long jump for the Illini, while senior Maciej Sniegorski placed fifth in the 5000m for with a time of 14:36.86. The distance medley relay ran an impressive 9:56.79, and sophomore Lesiba Masheto posted a 21.74 in the 200m.

"I was very pleased with the freshmen in the distance medley relay and Masheto," Angel said. "Today we had solid performances and we are looking forward to stepping it up at tomorrow's competition." The Illini will resume competition at the Cyclone Classic on Saturday, Feb. 10. A recap and complete results will be available on fightingillini.com following the conclusion of the meet.
