"We battled extremely hard in singles, and I am very proud of that," head coach Michelle Dasso said. "I thought we worked hard in singles, but regardless of who you play, winning four singles matches against any team is going to be challenging. I thought we put ourselves in a great position to win the match at the end, but it came down to the doubles point. We needed to play as passionately as we did in singles in the doubles portion. "

Looking to get back on track, Illinois won at No. 1, 4 and 5 singles behind tough performances from Minor in the No. 5 spot and straight-set victories from sophomore Bryce Marable (ILL) at No. 4 singles, 7-6(4), 7-5 over Rainey (WASH) and Fudge (ILL) over Tara Simpson (WASH), 7-5, 6-4, in the top slot.
